The grapes used in the creation of this wine derive in large part from very old vines grown the warm Sacramento Delta area. The secret of old vines is that they can, in principle, owing to their deep roots, more or less always keep their cool. The zin is supplemented by some extraordinary old vine carignane grown quite near-by. Our good friends on Montebello Ridge discovered recently what the clever and foresighted Italian and Portugese immigrant grape growers knew a hundred years ago. Planting vineyards to "promiscuous culture" -Zin, carignane and the occasional alicante grown together in one field creates a wonderful synergy of taste and textural complementarity. Very intense berry character, powerful tannin, a Zin that is not to be trifled with.

Attractive black cherry red in colour. Aromas of red fruits: currants, raspberries and cherries. A wine
of beautiful velvet softness and good balance, offering a delicious mix of berry and wild briary,
savoury flavours, reined in by the fine tannin finish. Blend of 48% Shiraz, 30% Grenache and
22% Mourvèdre.
Deep garnet rim with a black centre. Lashings of dark chocolate on the nose. Showing the classic
richness of Barossa Shiraz with a superb depth of fruit on the middle palate reined in by fine
chalky tannins on the finish.
The wine has an elegant, fruit forward style, with lots of mouthwatering Bing cherry and raspberry flavor, but it has a luxurious density in the mouth-feel. Its fruit, coupled with the velvety texture.
