The 2004 has a beautiful, deep purple color with a clean nose with notes of fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant) toast, tobacco, flowers (violets) and spices. A full attack, a tight-knit, velvety texture on the palate, offering also a great suppleness. The finish is long, persistent and gives out lingering notes of toast and fruits.

Chateau Calon Segur 2003

The blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot has resulted in one of the deepest-colored efforts yet produced by this estate. Low acidity, no hints of over-ripeness, and fabulously pure black currant, blackberry, licorice, and underbrush characteristics cascade over the palate with no hard edges. A high tannin level is well-concealed, and the finish lasts for over a minute. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030.

Still firm and tannic, this medium-bodied, elegantly wrought wine will benefit from another 2-3 years of cellaring, and should keep for 12-15 years.

Chateau D'Armailhac 2005

This powerful, tannic, structured effort from Mouton-Rothschild's stable is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by an earthy nose dominated by black currants and toasty, smoky oak. Medium to full-bodied with relatively high tannin, decent acidity, and a fine finish, it should be at its best between 2014-2030.

The 2005 boats a deep plum-ruby color as well as a beautiful projected bouquet of flowers, licorice, sweet currants, cherries, and smoke. There is lovely purity in the mouth as well as etched precise character, stunning concentration, decent acidity and an impressive ion finish that lasts nearly 45 seconds. Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 2004

The color of the 2004 is deep in color, with a lovely hint of garnet. The nose is complex, its numerous traits dominated by a note of fresh black fruits (blackberries, black cherries) but also with an elegant touch. The attack is gentle and supple, full and generous in the mouth thereafter, and finally yielding true voluptuous sensations in a very long finish. It seems to be a great Ducru, able to reach great heights!

Dark brick color. Nice woody nose, with hints of cedar and tobacco. Gingerbread and black currant jam fragrances. Well balanced, clean, and slightly spicy.

Chateau Fiefs Lagrange 2004

A nice glossy hue to this wine, and some pure fruit on the nose, fresh and vibrant, with a little trace of oak. Very stylish. Attractive, medium bodied, classically styled, filling out in the midpalate quite nicely. A balanced grip, with fresh acidity and ripe tannins. This is good, with fine potential for the cellar. Consistent tasting notes for this vintage.

Chateau Pontet-Canet 2006

There is a huge wealth of ripe fruit here, with a dense, savoury, macerated style. It has a sweet pastille-like intensity, but a savoury rather than sweet style, complicated by notes of tar and violets. A very serious palate follows, packed with dry and perhaps rather woody tannins, but there is plenty of fruit to match. A powerful wine which will need a lot of cellar time.

As the pinnacle tier for Chateau Ste. Michelle, all Ethos wines offer layers of complexity and the Syrah is no exception. As we tasted this one for descriptive notes, we went on and on...but if you have to hold us to a few...the wine delivers aromas and flavors of dark plum, boysenberry, cocoa, roasted coffee and caramel with a full, round, chewy palate and a long finish. The wine is fruit forward, yet incredibly layered, making it a versatile match for almost any pasta or meat dish. However, my classic pairing for this one would have to be lamb.

While there is plenty of tannin, it is sweet and well-concealed behind an intriguing bouquet of sweet herbs, licorice, smoked game, black currants, and cherries. This fleshy, medium to full-bodied St.-Julien exhibits a silky sweetness to its texture and tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020+.

Edmeades Alden Late Harvest Zinfandel

Since its first release in 1999, Alden Ranch Zinfandel has gained notoriety as a whale of a Zin. With more resemblance to port, the 2003 vintage stays true to its bloodline. Bright raspberry combines with toasted oak forming the core of the aromatics. Hints of peaches and nectarines add to the intensity of fruitiness as the aromas tiptoe toward spices and black fruits. We especially love the palate of this wine, particularly the warmth, length and velvety silkiness it delivers.

Groom Kalimna "Bush Block" Zinfandel

A very unusual grape variety for Australia, this new grape variety has produced quite a unique wine. The nose is unmistakably Zinfandel. Spicy aromas along with red fruits and pomegranate predominate, complexed further with slight raisiny notes from the riper zinfandel grapes. The color is a vibrant red/purple showing nice depth. The wine is medium bodied and structured with bright acidity, finishing with evident but soft tannins. Great with pasta, red meat and cheese.

J.P. CHENET CABERNET SYRAH comes from carefully chosen vineyards in the Languedoc region of Southern France, near the Mediterranean. Selected Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes have been vinified and matured to bring you a soft, supple easy to drink red wine. It has an intense ruby red colour, with a bouquet of red fruit (blackcurrant and cherries) and spicy notes.

Justin Cabernet Sauvignon

This primary wine of our production offers a merge of red and black fruits, delicate spiciness from carefully selected American oak barrels, and deep brooding opaque color. A meaty entry gives way to a generous back palate of supple but not shy tannins, a graceful flow across the palate, and a fine, debonaire finish.

A delicious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Deep ruby core. Gorgeous ripe raspberry and currant with soft oak notes of vanilla.

Medium-dark ruby red with a red rim. Dried berry and cherry notes, a good dash of tangy seasoning from oak, and a very delicate herbal note. Medium-weight and dry, lean at first as the natural acid attacks the palate, then subsides into more red cherry flavors with just a hint of vanilla-laced oak.

This grape is beginning to outshine all our other varietal reds because of its sheer deliciousness. Its color is dense, its perfume exotically floral and peppercorn-spicy, and its midpalate and finish stellar in containing all the most intense fruit Paso Robles can deliver. Framed well by mostly French barrels, our Syrah delivers great intensity and fine value.

Kaiken Ultra Cabernet Sauvignon

Very nice deep ruby red color, the wine has a distinct Cabernet Sauvignon character, with deep and pleasant blackcurrant and cherry notes. A big wine, yet elegant, it has a full body and promising tannins, abundant and mature. A very sophisticated wine with a delightfully long after-taste.

Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Well-defined currants, blackberry, blueberry and cassis make for abundant fruit on the attack. Sturdy, complex tannins balance the acidity throughout. Notes of smoke, mocha, cedar and lots of rich oak round off the long, earthy, heady finish.

Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve Merlot
