Oak Creek Cabernet Sauvignon is big, bold and rich. Mark Rasmussen oversees all winemaking activities at Oak Creek. He joined Golden State Vintners in 1992 and serves as Senior Winemaker for the company's entire wine brand portfolio. He brings with him years of experience and first-hand knowledge of cultivating fine wines. Under Rasmussen's watchful eye, Oak Creek has modified their farming methods over the years in an effort to produce grapes that are riper, denser and more intensely flavored. "The winery uses a combination of traditional and modern techniques to retain freshness and enhance the bouquet and texture of the three varieties we offer," notes Rasmussen.
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among climates ranging from Canada's Okanagan Valley to Lebanon's Beqaa Valley.
Cabernet Sauvignon became internationally recognized through its prominence in Bordeaux wines where it is often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. From France, the grape spread across Europe and to the New World where it found new homes in places like California's Napa Valley, Australia's Coonawarra region and Chile's Maipo Valley.
