The wine has a lot of depth and rich concentration. That depth is balanced by the refreshing acidity, silky tannins, and good minerality. The aromatics are of pie spice, wild cherries, red fruit.
A pinot wine tends to be of light to medium body with an aroma reminiscent of black cherry, raspberry or currant. It is lighter in style and is part of the trend toward less alcoholic wines at or around 12% alcohol by volume. Pinot wines are among the most popular in the world. The release of the movie “Sideways” in 2004 may have been a factor in Pinot noir’s increased popularity in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
