A dark strawberry color with a touch of translucence, this Pinot Noir is powerfully aromatic, with notes of sassafras, dark cherry, and caramelized oak nuance. Juicy and rich, this wine is jammy and fruit-driven with plum and dark fruit flavors. Earthy notes and a hint of porcini mushroom on the back end help to balance out the intense fruit flavor and create deeper complexity. Full-bodied, the finish is long with a touch of grip and lingering cedar aromatics. With a fuller-bodied Pinot Noir, opportunities for food pairings open up that are normally reserved for heavier red wines. A grilled lamb burger with a dry jack cheese would be an excellent match for the deep, juicy flavors of our Crusher Pinot Noir. Veal Piccata or Saltimbocca would also pair nicely, as would a Portobello mushroom sandwich with red pepper aioli.
A pinot wine tends to be of light to medium body with an aroma reminiscent of black cherry, raspberry or currant. It is lighter in style and is part of the trend toward less alcoholic wines at or around 12% alcohol by volume.
