Varietal

Rhine wine (also called Rhenish) is one of several dry white wines primarily produced in the Rhine Valley of Germany.  A pale yellowish wine made from white grapes or red grapes with skins removed before fermentation.   Wines produced elsewhere using this same process are frequently given the name "Rhine".
