DESCRIPTION

During the grape growing season, Eastern Washington boasts warm summer days followed by cool nights, ensuring that grapes ripen fully while retaining ample natural acidity. We let our Gewurztraminer attain a high level of ripeness before picking. The resultant wine has aromas of lychee and rose petal. The rich palate is medium-bodied, with lychee, true varietal flavors and a spiciness characteristic of Gewurztraminer. Soft and rich, with a balancing acidity and a slight mineral character, Gewürztraminer is excellent as an apéritif. Serve with Thai spring rolls, sweet and spicy pork lettuce wraps, or roast turkey with all the trimmings.

Varietal

The Gewurztraminer variety has high natural sugar and the wines are white and usually off-dry, with a flamboyant bouquet of lychee nut-like flavor. Originally from Germany, the name means Spice Grapes. It is primarily grown in Germany, Alsace France, and in smaller amounts in California and Australia.

Dry Gewürztraminers have aromas of roses, passion fruit and floral notes. It is not uncommon to notice some spritz (fine bubbles on the inside of the glass).  It produces a floral and refreshing wine with crisp acidity that pairs well with spicy dishes, Asian cuisine, fruit and cheese, and fleshy, fatty wild game or Smoked salmon.  Read More...
