Generous and complex, richly aromatic with honey and candied fruit. Full-bodied and appealingly sweet, with a supple, delicate structure. The strong varietal and aromatic note of the Moscato variety makes this an excellent "meditation wine" something to mull over and enjoy. A delicious accompaniment to desserts, crème-filled cakes, and petits-fours. Enjoy it in particular with traditional Langhe-area sweets, such as hazelnut semifreddo with caramel sauce, Martin pears au gratin with Moscato, torrone, and apple fritters.
The Moscato white variety is known by many names, from Muscadel to Muscat to Moscato to Moscatel. The family of grapes of the species Vitis vinifera is widely grown for wine, raisins and table grapes with many clone varieties, making both red and white wines.
Their color ranges from white to near black. Moscato almost always has a pronounced sweet floral aroma. Light-bodied with low acidity and low tannins.
Enjoy with a slice of pannetone, fresh fruit, pistachios or light pastries that are not too sweet. Read More...
