Cockburn’s Fine Ruby Port is a blend of young wines from different vintages, aged for three years in large wood casks. Youthful in character it has a vibrant red-to-purple color and fresh, grapey aromas. On the palate, this grapeyness is overlaid with notes of raspberry, plum and spice. It has a generous, rounded mouth feel and a ripe, sweet character.Fine Ruby pairs well with blue veined cheeses, rich chocolate desserts, especially with raspberry sauce, or simply squares of dark chocolate and toasted walnuts.

This wine comes from the Symington family’s Douro Valley vineyards in Northern Portugal, and in particular from those which traditionally supply the House of Dow’s, one of the family’s premier Port marques. The grapes are principally sourced from Dow’s Bomfim and Senhora da Ribeira vineyards, as well as from other vineyards, which have long supplied the company. The grape variety mix is: 30% Tinta Barroca, 25% Touriga Nacional, 25% Touriga Franca, 15 Tinta Roriz and 5% Tinto Cão.

This enviable position is reflected in the excellent quality and consistency of the style evident in Dow's 30 Years Old Tawny. This 30 Years Old Port is a beautifully mature wine of great distinction. Pale and delicate, it has superb complexity and style. With a concentrated and nutty nose and a full, fresh and lingering finish. It is a very skillful blend, creating an excellent balance between nutty oak and raisin fruit flavors.

Fine Tawny is aged for approximately three years in small barrels. This hastens the aging process so that the wine evolves to a reddish amber color and develops a silky feel and nutty flavor. Tawny Port is filtered before bottling and and is a smoother, mellower drink than its Ruby counterpart.
